V8.1.57 New video layouts and open URLs of shared browser windows
We're excited to announce another major release of CoScreen - V8, packed with improvements based on feedback by many of you. Thank you for being part of our journey as we continue to evolve CoScreen!
New Features
New video layouts: We frequently heard from users that you want improved video layouts that automatically fit all participants without needing to resize the entire window, larger video feeds for 1:1 meetings, and buttons that are easier to find.
Open shared browser windows locally: If remote control is enabled, remote users can now open URLs from shared windows on their local machine with a single clickâno more need to ask for the link. This feature is available for Chrome and Safari windows shared from macOS, with support for Windows planned.
New sharing tabs: Many of you told us that the sharing tabs were covering essential content on your windows, so we made them semi-transparent to ensure clear visibility of your screen.
Nerd font in the CoScreen Terminal: We heard you - CoScreen now supports your fancy shell prompts in the built-in terminal and now uses a Nerd Font (Fira Code) that supports many popular glyphs.
Quality Improvements
Microsoft Windows:
Fixed an issue that caused remote keystrokes to trigger double entries locally.
Reduced CPU consumption (more major improvements coming soon).
macOS:
Reduced remote control latency by up to 50%.
Resolved a bug that caused full-display sharing to stop when a window was minimized or maximized.
Corrected an issue preventing remote control and drawing when remote windows overlapped with a full display share.
Improved window border detection so that borders now disappear when a window is minimized.
Across All Platforms:
Addressed a problem where screen shares appeared with gray stripes and black borders during one-on-one calls.
Strengthened the reliability of yellow sharing tabs to reduce latency and prevent missing tabs.
Fixed an issue that caused text in shared terminals to appear jumbled.
Update 31 Oct, 2024 (8.1.65)
We pushed a security fix to ensure we are not sharing content within the sharing indicator on newer macOS versions.
